Business Continuity Planning

If business has learnt one thing from the pandemic, it’s that every business is prone to disruption.  We’re also having to adapt to a new normal!  Carrying-out Business Continuity Planning can help to minimise disruption and keep your operations running more smoothly.  Good Business Continuity Planning (BCP) doesn’t eliminate all potential impact of a major incident (or pandemic!) but it will reduce the impact and enable you to take steps quickly.

Simple Steps Make A Big Difference

Most businesses don’t spend time to consider BCP because they think it’s time-consuming and complicated.  We’ve got it down to 10 simple steps:

  1. Define your scope: be clear about much of the business is going to be covered by your plan
  2. Do some initial analysis
  3. Understand the business impact of business interruption/failure
  4. Assemble your team of representatives: you can’t do it all yourself
  5. Seek input from your representatives
  6. Identify and update existing recovery strategies
  7. Agree target recovery times
  8. Close the gaps between where you are and where you need to be
  9. Train the teams and test the process
  10. Review and update regularly
